Default This guy came in with my BG colony

What do you guys think? I'm leaning towards Petro. sp Texas Kipili. Background info: exporter mentioned that the BG colony was collected off Kipili.

Yeah it is. Consensus on HFB is that it is in fact a sp. Texas Kipili

I would guess sp. Texas as well due to the markings on the face

Does look like Texas but color's a little off for Kipli. I think they are kind of green. Pretty fish. I guess it's a Kipli if that is in fact where it came from. Who knows what goes on in the exporters packing houses when they're trying to put an order together. Anyway, he makes a nice specimen fish to go with that big Moshi you have in there.

Most of the pics, including one by Ad Konings and one on Cichlidae.com, have them with this blue color from what I can tell.

He's something else. Holds his own against bigger fish in the tank

IMO it is a little bit different from what is known as "Texas Kipili": it seems a little bluer but the main difference is the blue dorsal fin. It reminds me to a old pic of Africandiving ltd website of a Petro called Mtosi fluorescent (or something similar).

Nice fish indeed, it's a pity you have only a male!

You're probably right. I've seen them represented as "Kipli Blue" by importers. The Russian site I linked you to has them kind of green and I've seen pics on European forums that seemed similar. That Russian site also shows a pic of a "Texas Blue" taken in the lake, but I think he says it comes from up and across the lake around M'tosi. I agree that it's to bad you didn't get more. He's a real nice looking fish.

Well there apparently is another with the guy who bought a few BG from the same import and it seems like it's a female and I'll be picking it up very soon.
